Check out these new sites: The U.S. Department of Education just launched U.S.A. Learns, a Web site to help immigrants learn English. It is a free site for adults to improve basic reading, writing, speaking, and life skills.

Word Family Sort
This online activity is designed for beginning and struggling readers to help them recognize word patterns. Students select a vowel and then sort words into short-vowel word families. Students can print their completed word family chart and use it to practice reading the words fluently.
