Rubrics

What is a Rubric? A rubric is a scoring tool that helps students and teachers both understand what is important for a piece of academic work. Does content matter? Does organization matter? Does sentence structure matter? Does spelling matter when my essay is being graded? Rubrics establish the basis upon which an assignment is judged.
A rubric for a writing assignment, for example, will list the things the student must have included to receive a certain score or grade. Rubrics help the student figure out how their writing assignment will be graded and what is considered high quality work.
